ARE YOU ONE OF THEM?

It's interesting that the people who tap into the power of God are those who have a humble heart towards God and sincerely believe they need him. In today’s text, Jesus is eating with tax collectors and those who the religious leaders considered as worthless, corrupt scum. This made the Pharisees and religious teachers of the law very upset! Look at what transpired.

But the Pharisees and their teachers of religious law complained bitterly to Jesus’ disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with such scum?”

Jesus answered them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.” (Luke 5:30-32 NLT)

The lowly and those who were considered scum were tapping into the power of God, but the religious, self-righteous Pharisees and teachers of the law missed him completely! Though they actually needed him desperately, their pride and self-righteousness kept them from experiencing his glory. God is looking for those who are humble and know they need him. God is longing to give away to us all that he is! Are you one of the humble, hungry and needy?

Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. (Jn 3:16-18 NIV)

The Pharisees and the teachers of the law were not able to tap into the goodness of God because of their self-righteousness and unbelief. God is in love with those he created! God is looking to fill, heal and touch somebody today! Just wondering…
