FOLLOW HIM!
When someone comes to Jesus, they immediately leave their old life of self and begin to focus on their new life in God and on his extraordinary mission of love. Many have come to church, and even walked the aisle during the altar call to receive Christ, but considered it a work to be accomplished and not a reality to be believed. Consequently, they did not experience the presence and power of Christ within them but only a form of godliness to adhere to. Look at what happened to those to whom Jesus gave the call to follow him.
Mat 4:19-20 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” At once they left their nets and followed him.
They left everything and followed him! When someone has a genuine experience with Christ, their life changes, the Spirit of love and intimacy with God overcomes them and the purpose of God’s mission becomes their passion. Have you fully surrendered to the love of Jesus as afforded by the cross and his shed blood? Do you believe that you are forgiven, accepted and loved by God? This is where real life begins!
God wants to teach you how to live inside of his fullness, and then he wants to show you how to fish. (for men) There is only one way to come to God – BELIEVE! Many relegate Christianity down to some kind of good works to accomplish – but, they are badly mistaken! Jesus did not come to make bad people good – he came to make dead people live! Consider these scathing words of the apostle Paul to the Galatian church.
Gal 3:1-5 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. 2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? 4 Have you suffered so much for nothing—if it really was for nothing? 5 Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard?
God’s powerful mission of love can only be released through those who believe! Those who rely upon their own efforts will miserably fail. Do you have a passion for God’s mission? When the love of God has touched you, it is easy to give that love away! Reinhard Bonnke said, “Make the great commission your great ambition!” This statement becomes a reality for those who have been deeply moved by the love of God. I pray the love of God will overwhelm you today! I pray that your experience through faith deeply moves you!
