I know you would agree with this statement – Our world needs a mighty outpouring from the Spirit of God! So what is it that will bring about the necessary change our hurting world so desperately needs? Consider the following powerful truth – The greatest secret to stepping into the power of God is found in simple trust and rest in the finished work of Christ! Am I serious? Yes – rest! The world and much of the church is still living under the law and therefore bound up in the lifestyle of darkness. Does the following scripture remind you of what is going on in the world right now?

2Ti 3:1-5 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.

Never forget this most crucial scripture –

1 Corinthians 15:56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. (NIV)

The power behind sin is the law! Many are still trying to live "good enough" to deserve God and his goodness, and therefore struggle with all that is opposite of love. Love is the fulfillment of the whole law, (see Rom 13:10 Gal 5:14) and is getting ready to be unleashed in unprecedented measure! Amazing things are in store for the church, the body of Christ! Resting in God through trusting his truth causes us to have communication with God that is powerful and life-changing! Apostle Peter understood the importance of prayer and said this…

1Pet 4:7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear-minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.

When you know that God loves you, intimacy with him becomes your way of life. When the people of God become assured in their hearts that God loves them, they will rest in God, and this is how we will change the world! The kind of faith that causes us to rest in God releases unprecedented power!

This place of rest is where we are no longer trying to be good enough to deserve God but know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are precious to God – everything he has ever wanted! Oh, what power is released into the world through those who will believe like this!

When you see all the negative things happening in the world, let it be a catalyst for you to trust God enough to rest in him, living a life free from worry and fear!
