Jesus Christ had one assignment to accomplish when he came to earth; it was to make it possible for you and I to be intimate with God once again. Before Adam and Eve fell, they lived in intimacy with God, daily enjoying his loving presence. After Adam partook of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the lifestyle of self and self-righteousness took over – empowered by the law. Humanity was therefore enslaved and bound to the knowledge of “Thou Shalt” and “Thou Shalt Not.” This was the tree of the knowledge (or the knowing) of good and evil. In Genesis 3:22, God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever."

Please notice the word “become.” This denotes that they were now something that they weren’t before. So, what did they become? They became like God. How was it that man became like God? It was the knowing of good (Thou Shalt) and evil (Thou Shalt Not). This horrible and most hideous trick of Satan is why Jesus came! And this is why the Scripture declares, “Christ is the end (or completion) of the law so that there may be righteousness for those who believe.” Rom 10:4

Jesus came and fulfilled all the righteous requirements of the law and gave his life as the sacrifice for all of our self-centered – self-righteous ways. He came to deliver us from our old marriage partner that we were enslaved to – the law. He came to introduce us to a whole new way of living which is actually the old way of living before Adam and Eve fell – the life of intimacy with God inside of his love!

Jn 17:26 I have made you known to them and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."

Why did Jesus make God known to the world? It was so that the love God had for Jesus would be in us and that Jesus himself would be enough. God is longing for us to live inside of him and he inside of us. I know sometimes we think that we are the ones who came up with kissing, hugging and intimacy, but I promise you, this is from the heart of God!

I am praying for you today! I am praying that God will open up your eyes to see a bigger picture than ever before. God is in love with you! There is a new way of living. Trying to be good enough to earn God’s favor is living under the law and is the life of bondage to failure. It’s time to step out and experience the freedom that Jesus Christ came to grant us!
