PRAYER
The fantastic story of the praying, daring and anointed John Knox, the Scottish clergyman and leader of the Protestant Reformation, is stunning. He was imprisoned during the late 1540s for supporting the Protestant Reformation in Scotland but never ceased to keep praying “Lord, give me Scotland, or I die.” His powerful prayers were heard by God, and by the time he died in 1572, the gospel had revolutionized Scotland. Even the Scottish Parliament had adopted the Reformation doctrines. He had such a significant impact that even some of the first missionaries to America were from Scotland, being unmistakably influenced by his life and ministry.
It is said that Mary, Queen of Scots, trembled whenever John Knox went to his knees to pray. She even once said that “she would rather face the armies of England than the prayers of John Knox." She "hated and feared" John Knox. Many believe that this mighty man of God was the tipping point that ended the civil war in Scotland.

Interestingly, the Bible has no record of Jesus teaching his disciples how to preach, but we do have record of him teaching them how to pray. Luke 18

Psalm 63:1-8 O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name, I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips, my mouth will praise you. On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
There is no doubt about it! Those whom God will use significantly will be those whose life is grounded in prayer! I am trusting God today that these simple words will stir you to go deeper into that most precious place of communion and intimacy with God that we call PRAYER; for this is the…
