MAKING GOALS AND ACHIEVING THEM (PART 5)
Your physical health is tied to everything else in your life? Your physical fitness has a significant impact on your emotions and your ability to win in life! You’ve heard it said, “no pain, no gain.” Since God wants you to be healthy in every area, it is critical that you also address your physical health.
I remember being on a cruise in Mexico when I ran into this gentleman who was a specimen of health and fitness. I assumed that he was in his mid-40s, but as we began to chat, I found out that he was 66 years old. Of course, I asked him what his secret was. I was wondering if it was some special diet or supplements or some particular workout program. His reply to me stuck! He said, “I just show Up.” He said, “some days I feel good, and other days I am tired and don’t feel like working out much… But I just Show Up!”
How about that! Just show up! In the area of your health, God wants you to show up! God lives inside of you - you are his temple. Therefore, what happens to your body is very important to God!
1 Cor 3:16-17 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is sacred, and you are that temple.
Think about it; God, the Holy Spirit, is housed inside your body. Therefore, what you do with your body impacts your relationship with God! This is why God gave us his wisdom when he told us not to get drunk, overeat, use drugs and the like. These are things that make us feel good at the moment but destroy our health in the long run. What you eat, what you drink, your exercise habits and your thought patterns are exceedingly important to God! Did you hear that? Those things are exceedingly important to God! Why? He knows that if you don’t feel good you won’t exist in his abundant life.
Jesus said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Jn 10:10b Apostle John declared, "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." 3 John 2
God longs for us to live in the full measure of abundance that he created us to live in, but this is not possible without being healthy. I want to challenge you regarding your eating habits, sleeping habits, exercise habits, and thought habits. These are keys to the success of your future and of your dreams! The year is just beginning, and it's your season to prosper! Choose to take your health seriously because it is time to be…
