KNOWING GOD IS KNOWING AND BELIEVING HIS CHARACTER

“Those who know their God will be strong and do great things.” Dan 11:32

What does it mean to know God? Yesterday we discussed that knowing God was intimacy with God. Because of who God is, those who know God will also know and believe his character. Do you deem God as one who is trustworthy? Does he truly love you? Is he for you? Is he genuinely on your side? Those who know God have a very definitive answer to those questions. Let’s consider a few things that the Bible declares regarding God’s character.

GOD IS WITH YOU

Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

GOD IS YOUR PROVIDER

Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

2Cor 9:8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

GOD IS YOUR PROTECTOR

Ps 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Ps 91:2 I will say of the Lord, you are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.

Isa 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

GOD IS FAITHFUL

Heb 10:23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

Deut 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.

GOD CANNOT LIE

Num 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

Titus 1:1-2 Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ for the faith of God’s elect and the knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness— 2 a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time.

GOD IS IN LOVE WITH YOU

Because of his great love for us, God delivered Jesus, his only son, over to death as full payment for our sin!. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever would believe in him would not perish but have everlasting life.

Eph 2:4-10 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

The word of God is filled with verses that declare God’s intense love for us! So the question is, what do you believe about God? Do you trust him? Do you trust his character? Have you let go to fully embrace who God is and his incredible love for you? I can assure you of this…
