You Are Perfect

God sees us through the blood of Jesus and therefore sees us as perfect. We cannot approach him based upon our works, but only through what Christ has done for us at the cross. This is why we can all be family; no one is better than the other one! Romans 3:11-12 says, “As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away; they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.” Thank you, Jesus! I’m not the only one who makes mistakes and has failed God! This truth should spark great hope in you! God’s love for us is not based upon our works!

When God created the world, he worked for six days, but on the seventh day, he rested. The seventh day became a prophetic monument to declare to us the glorious life available through the grace of God. There’s nothing that we can boast about and nothing we can do to earn or deserve his grace (the place of resting from our own works); on the contrary, the Sabbath rest of God is accessed only by faith! No more striving to deserve God or earn his favor; through faith in Jesus, we can have complete rest!

Romans 4:5-8  Now, when a man works, his wages are not credited to him as a gift but as an obligation. However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness. David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:  “Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him.”

King David committed the most grievous sins of murder and adultery, yet the grace of God so greatly prevailed that later he would be called the father of Jesus Christ. (See Mat 1:1, 9:27, 12:23, 15:22, 20:30, 21:9) Also, the angel Gabriel met Mary and spoke these words to her, “You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father, David.” Luke 1:31-32 Even Jesus Christ said that he is the one who holds the key of David. (Rev 3:7)

Why would the holy and righteous Creator of all the universe affiliate himself with such a person? David did such horrible things! Why would a perfect and holy God want to have his name connected with a murderer and adulterer? The answer to that perplexing question can only be found in the love and grace of God! Yes, King David did have a repentant, humble, and trusting heart, but he did not have works that could gain him this kind of right standing with God. King David wrote this, “If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you, there is forgiveness so that we can, with reverence, serve you.”  Ps 130:3-4 King David fully believed in the forgiving and loving heart of God and therefore put the total weight of his trust in God’s undeserved favor towards him.

Are you trusting in God’s provision for your righteousness through Jesus outside of your works? Are you standing upon the rock of truth that declares you perfect in God’s sight? Heb 8:13 says, “For by one sacrifice he (God) has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” Wow! Thank you, Jesus! Makes me want to shout!

Do you know that you, just like King David, are included amongst those who are loved and favored by God? Oh, yes, before God, we are all equal! There is not one of us who deserves the goodness of God, yet we are all made righteous when we simply believe!

My dear friend, it is time for us as the body of Christ to step into the glorious freedom that the blood of Jesus paid for! Of this, you can be sure; like David, you have been credited the righteousness of Jesus and that favor has nothing to do with your works! This means that you are perfect in God’s sight! Can you receive that? I am praying that you will, like a child, wholeheartedly accept the truth that in God’s eyes…
