DO THE WORKS, JESUS DID

THOSE WHO KNOW THEIR GOD Part 10

“Those who know their God will be strong and do great things.” Dan 11:32

WHAT DOES A PERSON DO WHO KNOWS GOD?

So, What does a person do who knows God? Whose life could we emulate that really knew God more than anyone else? Yes – the answer is Jesus. Looking carefully at what Jesus did will let us know what we should be doing. So what did Jesus do? I love the explanation of Luke, the writer of the book of Acts.

Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

It is so important to consider this Scripture carefully! Note; Jesus did not do what he did because he was God! He did not do good, heal people, and cast out demons because he was the Savior of the world. No! The Scripture declares that Jesus did all these things because he was anointed with the Holy Ghost and power! Wow! If Jesus is our example and we are supposed to do what he did, we should also be busy doing good, healing the sick, and casting out demons. Look at Jesus’ own words describing what we are supposed to do.

John 14:10-14  Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these because I am going to the Father. 13And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Jesus said, “the words I say to you, I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father living in me who is doing his work.” Isn’t it God who is supposed to be living his life through us? Yes, it is! I always say we must not concern ourselves with the “greater things” until we do what Jesus did. But, to back up a little bit, who is it, that should be doing the works Jesus did? The Scripture says, “whoever believes!” Notice that he did not say my disciples or the apostles would be doing those works. No, those works are carried out by those who believe.

Here’s my question for you today, do you believe that you are to carry on the works of Jesus? Are you willing to let go of any preconceived ideas that would keep you from walking in the anointing of God? God is so proud to call you his own! He wants to touch the world through you! Don’t let doing the works of Jesus be a burden to you! No! Doing the works of Jesus is not something we try hard to do; it is God working through you! Remember, those who believe are the ones who will do those works! Are you ready to go higher? Faith – believing God is what will cause you to…
