WHAT DO PEOPLE DO TO KNOW GOD?

What does faith look like? How will you know when faith is in operation? I remember when God was calling my wife and me to central Oregon. In January of 1998, my wife, during prayer, had received a word from God that we would move in November of that same year. I asked her where we were going to move, and she said, “I don’t know. I only know that we are moving.” Because of her faith, she started having garage sales and selling everything she could. As the weeks and months passed, I would ask her again and again, “do you still feel like we’re moving?” Her answer increasingly became, “Yes, I am more sure that now than I was before.” That is what faith looks like.

In Genesis 12, God spoke to Abraham. He said, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.   2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse;  all peoples on earth be blessed through you.” 4 So Abram left, as the LORD had told him;

So Abraham left as the Lord had told him. That’s what faith looks like! When you believe the one who is speaking to you, you can do what he has told you to do.

In October 1999, my wife and I began to receive phone calls from pastors who wanted us to consider becoming ministers in their churches. Sure enough, by the beginning of November, we knew we were supposed to move to Bend, Oregon. The only problem was, we didn’t have any money to move. But, at the very last moment, as God usually does, the money to move showed up in a very unexpected way.

We were going to move on a Wednesday and had already reserved a U-Haul but did not have the money to pay for it. The Sunday evening before that Wednesday, our pastor called us up to pray over us and send us out. He decided, spur of the moment, to take up an offering for us, and $3000 came in. Hallelujah! God was making a way where there seemed to be no way. In

So, what is God calling you to do? Are you hearing his voice? When you trust God and know that he will never lead you in the wrong way, you can step out and do what he is calling you to do.
