THOSE WHO KNOW THEIR GOD Part 42

“Those who know their God will be strong and do great things.” Dan 11:32

WHAT DO PEOPLE DO TO KNOW GOD?

There is so much power in prayer! Many lives have been saved, and situations turn around by the power of prayer! I love the story from the Old Testament about Esther. Esther’s parents were taken away into captivity, and Mordechai, her older cousin, took her in as his daughter. During this time, King Xerxes reigned in Susa, Persia’s capital city, and the Queen was named Vashti. Because Vashti would not flaunt her beauty at one of the king’s parties, she was banished from the palace, and Esther, the Jew, took her place.

Haman, the second greatest leader in Xerxes’ kingdom, hated Mordechai and had devised a plot to destroy all Jews at an appointed time. After discussing the situation with Mordechai, Esther decided that she would risk her life and go to the king to plead for her and her people’s lives. Before she went to the king, she said to Mordechai, “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.” 17 So Mordecai went away and carried out all of Esther’s instructions. Esther 4:16-17

Esther was a mighty woman of God! She understood the power of prayer and fasting. She called upon the whole Jewish community to bind themselves together in prayer to God. Apostle James was one who also knew the power of prayer and wrote to the Jewish people saying, “Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. 14 Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

17 Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its cropsJames 5:13-17

According to this Scripture, faith-filled prayer can make sick people well, release forgiveness and even change the weather. Wow! Do you believe that? Esther understood the power of prayer and tapped into its supernatural protection. All the Jewish people in the kingdom of Persia were saved from death because of prayer.

Are you conscious of the power available to you in prayer? In Luke 18, Jesus taught that we should always pray and never give up. He told a parable of the woman who needed justice from an unjust judge and was unwilling to give up until she received her answer. At the end of that teaching, Jesus made this profound statement, “However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:8b In other words, he was saying, will there be people who believe me enough to pray consistently and persistently. You see, those who believe God are those who pray! Those who know that their help comes from the Lord are those who pray!

As we see the apocalypse (The Revealing) approaching, I want to encourage and inspire you to a higher level of prayer! I am convinced that God is calling us to pray as never before! It is time for the body of Christ to rise up and fulfill the purpose of the kingdom! My dear friend, when you, by faith, go to God in prayer, your heart can be at rest because you know that faith-filled…
