THOSE WHO KNOW THEIR GOD Part 52

“Those who know their God will be strong and do great things.” Dan 11:32

WHAT DO PEOPLE DO TO KNOW GOD?

Jesus came to make it possible for us to have intimacy with God. He loved people so much, and therefore people felt loved by him. The statements that Jesus made while he was here on the earth were so amazing and powerful! Here’s one of them.

John 14:11-12 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these because I am going to the Father.

In context, Jesus is talking about the miracles he was performing and said, Anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing (healing the sick, casting out devils and declaring the good news of the kingdom). He will do even greater things than these because I am going to the Father.” Often, people get wrapped up in what Jesus meant by “greater things” instead of just focusing on what Jesus did. Don’t try to worry about bench pressing 500 pounds if you haven’t yet bench pressed hundred pounds. Right? Jesus said, “You will do what I have been doing.” Wow! Notice also that Jesus said, “anyone.” Not just any one of the disciples, but anyone.

As we saw yesterday, Jesus did miracles because he was anointed by the Holy Spirit. But he declared that he was leaving and that the power of the Spirit living in him would come to us.

John 15:26 When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.

John 16:7 But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you

John 16:13-15  But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.

Jesus said that the Holy Spirit (the same Spirit that gave him the power to do miracles) would not come unless he left. But before leaving this earth, Jesus gave the disciples strict instructions in order to facilitate the coming of God’s Spirit upon them. Jesus said, “I am going to send you what my Father has promised, but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:49

We know that the disciples went and did what Jesus told them to do. Tomorrow we will find out what they did to prepare for this power coming upon them.

Here’s my question for you today; do you realize that it is God’s will for his kingdom to flow through you powerfully? Do you know that God has called us as his children to be conduits for his Spirit to flow through? I hope that excitement is rising within you! You can be sure that the power of the Spirit is not something you can work up, and it is definitely not about your good works! The power of God is released through you when you are…
