SEEING THE KINGDOM OF GOD

THOSE WHO KNOW THEIR GOD Part 53

“Those who know their God will be strong and do great things.” Dan 11:32

WHAT DO PEOPLE DO TO KNOW GOD?

Yesterday we discussed that Jesus gave the disciples specific instructions to prepare for the Holy Spirit coming upon them. Here’s what Jesus said, “I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:49 The apostle Luke also spoke of this in the Acts of the Apostles.,

Acts 1:4-8 “On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” 6 So when they met together, they asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Wow! Do you see that? How did Jesus do miracles? He was anointed with the Holy Spirit and power. Acts 10:38 Jesus had told the disciples that they would receive power when the Holy Spirit came on them.

In obedience to Jesus’ instructions to them to wait, they went to the upper room, and here’s what they were doing.

Acts 1:12-14 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk from the city. 13 When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas, son of James. 14 They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary, the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

So what were the disciples doing in the upper room? They were constantly in prayer. Do you think prayer has something to do with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit? Oh yes – yes, it does! The disciples were in prayer, getting ready to experience the kingdom of God coming upon them. Apostle Paul, when addressing the Corinthian church, said, “When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. 2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. 4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power. 1 Corinthians 1-4

In the same letter to the Corinthians, Paul said, “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power 1 Corinthians 4:20.

Wow! I hope you are allowing these Scriptures to speak to you! In light of everything that we have already gone over regarding the transference of the kingdom to us and Jesus’ declaration that we would do the works he was doing and even greater, there should be an excitement rising up within you! It is the Revelation of the truth that will cause you to step into the power of that truth!

I believe that we are in a new season – a season where God’s power will be revealed because of a Revelation of the grace and love of God! I pray your eyes are being opened to a new and exciting way of…
