THE TRUTH THAT WILL SET THEM FREE

THOSE WHO KNOW THEIR GOD Part 61

“Those who know their God will be strong and do great things.” Dan 11:32

WHAT DO PEOPLE DO TO KNOW GOD?

I have always been mesmerized by how Jesus would walk by people and tell them to follow him, and they would leave everything they were doing to follow him.

Matthew 5:27-28  After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. “Follow me,” Jesus said to him, 28 and Levi got up, left everything, and followed him.

Can you imagine? Levi was wealthy and had a flourishing business. But when he saw Jesus and heard his words, he left everything and followed him. That will preach! Are we all about following God and fulfilling his purposes? I love the rest of the story – take a look.

Matthew 5:29-32  Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them. 30 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?”

31 Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

I’m so glad that Jesus didn’t come for the healthy but instead for people like me! In another place, Jesus said, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” Luke 19:10 Jesus was not only not afraid to hang out with sinners, he deeply loved them! Yes, God so loved the world that he gave his only son! Apostle Peter knew God’s heart and wrote, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Pet 3:9

God is in love with people! He does not want anyone to miss his eternal plan of lavishing his love and grace upon them. Apostle Paul told Timothy, “This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:3-4

God’s greatest desire is for everyone to experience the beauty of his great salvation through Jesus Christ! I think the question is, have we been impacted enough by the grace of God that we also want it for everyone? Do we have God’s heart? The inspiration necessary to want to tell the world about God’s grace is to be deeply impacted by that grace. The more that it is genuinely good news to me, the more I want to share it with others!

I would love to hear your thoughts about ways we could impact the world for Christ! I know that people all around you and me need to know…
