Write It Down

Many of us have heard the term, write it down, but may not realize how important that phrase is. Those who study neuroscience tout the powerful psychology behind writing things down. Recently I wrote that the latest scientific research indicates that those who write down their goals are 42% more likely to accomplish those goals. When you write down goals, it sends a powerful message to your brain to achieve them. This is why God gave us the Bible. Yes, God wrote down his heart, passion, and purpose so that we could live the dream of heaven. I have often quoted these words given to the prophet Habakkuk.

Habakkuk 2:2b-3 Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still, the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end – it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. ESV

Writing down your heart, passion, and purpose will help you accomplish what is yet for an appointed time. There is an appointed time for everything in our lives. It is so important not to let the economy, your current paycheck, or your current level of ability determine the dreams you have or what you choose to accomplish. God always calls us to do greater than what seems physically possible in our current state. The admonition God gave to the children of Israel through Moses long ago is what God wants you to hear today.

Deuteronomy 31:6  Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (NIV)

I love Apostle Paul’s bold declaration to the Philippian church – “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13

It is essential to keep in mind that nothing grows in the place of comfort. Growth is only made possible through resistance. The dream God has for you will probably scare you a little bit or at least make you uncomfortable but being uncomfortable is often a good thing! When it comes to your dreams, a little bit of anxiety is helpful! The men and women God used greatly were often given tasks that were impossible to accomplish in their own strength, but all things are possible with God!

Matthew 19:26 “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

If you were not comparing yourself to anyone else on any level and it was impossible for you to fail, what would you do? That’s what you need to write down! Success is not about how much money you make; it’s about loving the life you love and empowering others to do the same! Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life and have it in all its fullness.” Jn 10:10b BSB  My dearest friend, the greatest joy your life will ever know will come about in the middle of fulfilling God’s purpose for your life! God knows you more than you know yourself and what he has planned for you is more beautiful than you can imagine.

If you have taken time to search your heart to know what you love and what you would like to accomplish irregardless of what others think about you, then the next most important thing you can do is to…
