The Beauty of a Life of Rest

With all the chaos that is going on in the world, many are living lives opposite of peace and rest. Fear and worry have gripped many because they have focused on what the world is saying instead of what God God is saying. Inside of God is a beautiful and quiet place where you can be restored and strengthened!

Quietness Promotes Rest

In the last few days, we have learned the importance of rest, but how can a person find that place of rest? With natural rest, we know that quietness is necessary. Turn off the noise, turn off the lights and cast your cares upon the Lord. Apostle Peter wrote, “Cast all your anxiety on him because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7. How important and valuable this is! Rest is inevitable when worry and fear are subdued by entrusting your situation to God!

King David was often in very troublesome circumstances. How did he deal with those circumstances? Well, here’s what he said: “Cast your cares on the LORD, and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall. Psalm 55:22. David was convinced that God would never let him down, and He never did! Are you convinced?

Solitary Places Promote Rest

Luke 5:16 tells us that “Jesus often withdrew to lonely places to pray.” One of the best things a person can do is get to a quiet place to spend time alone with God. Some of the most productive people in the world have learned the secret of white space (doing nothing). Some of the greatest inventions were dreamed up during those times of doing nothing – sitting back in a chair or on a leisurely walk. According to recent research, billions of dollars are wasted in the workplace because of accidents due to employees not having proper rest or not taking time away from work. Your times along with God are irreplaceable – don’t ever forget it!

Right-Thinking Promotes Rest

Jesus said, “Come to me all you who are weary and burdened down, and I will give you rest.” Mat 11:28. Those who spend time with God will gain a deeper and deeper revelation of His amazing love and grace. Jesus told us to “Seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness and all the things we need will be added unto us.” Mat 6:33. Remember, the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Romans 14:17. When you, because of the truth of God’s word, find out that you are truly loved, forgiven, and free, rest and peace fill your life.

Those who cast their cares upon the Lord are those who’ve chosen to set their mind on what God says is true. When you trust God with your life, you can follow the instructions apostle Paul gave to the Philippian church where he said, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Phil 4:6-8.

So, where are you going to find rest? Ultimately rest comes from trusting God. Learning to trust God comes from getting quiet before him in a solitary or quiet place and setting your mind upon what He says is true. My dearest friend, God longs for you to accept your true identity inside of him! You are everything to him! He is massively in love with you! Everything you need is found in him! I can assure you that the more you set your mind on what He says is true about you, the more you’ll experience…
