Believe What God Believes about You

The DYI tree that Adam and Eve partook of is at the center of all the woes of humanity! Most people don’t know they live with an inferior mentality because of the performance-based life passed onto them through Adam and Eve and the law of Moses. Many do not understand that gaining righteousness through obedience to the law was the only thing God never wanted for us and is the only thing that Satan wanted and still wants us to be bound by. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil open the dreadful door for man to live by self instead of by faith. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil produced an experiential knowledge that God gave to Moses in writing almost 2500 years after Adam. Here’s what Moses said to the children of Israel.

Deuteronomy 6:25 And if we are careful to obey all this law before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, that will be our righteousness.”

God gave all the Commandments to Moses for the people to follow, yet not one of them ever wholly followed them! In fact, before Moses died, he told them this:

Deuteronomy 31:24-29 After Moses finished writing in a book the words of this law from beginning to end, he gave this command to the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord: “Take this Book of the Law and place it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God. There it will remain as a witness against you. For I know how rebellious and stiff-necked you are. If you have been rebellious against the Lord while I am still alive and with you, how much more will you rebel after I die! Assemble before me all the elders of your tribes and all your officials so that I can speak these words in their hearing and call heaven and earth to testify against them. For I know that after my death, you are sure to become utterly corrupt and to turn from the way I have commanded you. In days to come, disaster will fall upon you because you will do evil in the sight of the Lord and provoke him to anger by what your hands have made.”

Apostle James revealed the real problem with trying to gain a right standing with God through obedience to the law when he said, “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.” James 2:10

Similarly, consider this harsh rebuke Peter received from Apostle Paul at a large gathering of Christian leaders.

Acts 15:10-11 Now then, (Peter) why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear? No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

Living according to the law of Moses is, therefore, a curse! No one, including Moses, was able to keep it. Look at what Apostle Paul said to the Galatian church. “For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”11 Clearly, no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.” Gal 3:10-11

Please do not try to deserve God by living a “good enough” life as prescribed by the law! This is a sure way to destruction because it results in a life of continued compromise! The righteousness that God requires can only be realized through believing God!

The secret to living a Christlike life and enjoying the fullness of what God has provided for us through Jesus is believing what God has always believed about us! You see, God believes that we are righteous and completely acceptable to him through the blood of Jesus! As a matter of fact, when God looks at you, he sees Jesus. Oh, yes, we can come boldly to the throne of grace to find mercy and help in time of need! Heb 4:16

My precious friend, trying to be good enough for God to accept you, love you, and bless you produces a life of bondage, defeat, and depression. But the glorious life Jesus came to give you will be yours as you…
