Being excellent at what you are currently doing is the key to a successful and blessed future! Often people get caught in the trap of looking at how other people are or aren't doing their work, comparing themselves with them. This often causes a distraction and hinders their ability to fulfill their full potential. When we compare ourselves with someone who we perceive not to be doing as good as we are, we can easily get dragged into a mindset of not doing our very best because we see ourselves as already better than those around us. On the contrary, when we compare ourselves with someone who we perceive to be doing better than us we can easily get snared by the mentality of failure and discouragement, damaging our ability to reach our full potential. Consider the following thoughts of apostle Paul.

Gal 6:4 Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.

Col 3:23-24 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

God did not give us all the same gifting, talent or life purpose. We all have a specific and special part in the scheme of God’s eternal purpose. Comparing yourself with someone else is fruitless and only hinders the great things God has for you. In 2Corinthians 10:12,apostle Paul says it like this,“Those who compare themselves amongst themselves are not wise.”  We don’t have time to worry about other people’s failures or successes in comparison with ours, we need only to give careful attention to what God has told us to do and be excellent at it! Doing this will bless our Heavenly Father and ensure having the satisfaction of a job…
