CHOOSE THE BEST

In life, there are many things that are urgent but fewer things that are necessary! Sometimes doing what's necessary and laying aside that which seems so urgent may have the appearance of carelessness but doing what God has instructed you to do will always prove to be the best choice!

In the story in Luke chapter 10, Mary and Martha's house was filled with guests, and Martha was stressed-out trying to get the meal ready and make her home accommodating for all who were there. Mary, her sister, was sitting at the feet of Jesus listening and receiving the eternal, recondite truths Jesus was revealing. This made Martha so frustrated that she broke up the whole meeting to try to get Jesus to make her sister, Mary, come and help. Consider Jesus' poignant, yet inspiring answer to this overtaxed, perplexed woman.

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41,42

I always think of it like this, “1st things 1st, 2nd things 2nd, 3rd things 3rd! What about you? Jesus said, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.” Mt 6:33

When we put God first, the things that are most necessary for our life will chase us instead of us having to chase them. The enemy is always trying to get us to be so busy that we don’t have time for what gives us strength. Isaiah said, "Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint. Isa 40:28–31

The chorus from one of my favorite songs of Larnelle Harris is written from God’s point of view, and it says,

"I miss my time with you those moments together

I need to be with you each day and it hurts Me when you say

You're too busy, busy trying to serve Me

But how can you serve Me when your spirits empty

There's a longing in My heart Wanting more than just a part of you

It's true, I miss My time with you"

Seeking the Lord first is the quickest way to prosperity in every area of your life! I pray today that your revelation of God's love for you will inspire you to make sitting at Jesus' feet your highest priority! Don’t let the enemy fool you into thinking that you have to chase all those things first, citing that you don’t have enough time! Heed this sweet call of God to your heart today! I’m praying for you today! I am praying that, like Mary, you will also…
