MY LIFE WORTH NOTHING

As our revelation of the love of God increases, our motivation for life changes, and what we are living for takes new shape. When I think of people in history that had a grasp of the love and grace of God, my mind often thinks of apostle Paul. His concern for mankind’s eternal destiny produced in him an unwavering commitment to God and His purpose. Listen to what he says: 

Acts 20:22-24 (NIV) "And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace. 

Wow! Apostle Paul was a man totally given over to God and his purpose! When Paul spoke these words, he had already bore in his body many wounds inflicted on him for preaching the gospel. Very possibly even his features had been altered from being often stoned and beaten. Wow! Apostle Paul was so impacted by the love of God that he deeply loved people! He was so driven by the love of God that he was willing to be beaten, stoned and tortured for their sake, and the sake of God. Wow! 

Dear Father God, may you increase our revelation of your love so that we, like apostle Paul, would be willing to lose everything for those Jesus died for. May we be so inebriated with your love that we would say, along with apostle Paul, “I consider…
