GREATER SIN
Some people think that all sin is equal, and no matter what you do, it's all considered the same to God. But this is not true! Though even the very smallest sin makes one guilty and therefore worthy of eternity without God, sin is judged according to the severity of the sin. Listen to the words of Jesus and the apostle Paul.
John 19:11 (NLT) Then Jesus said, “You would have no power over me at all unless it were given to you from above. So the one who handed me over to you has the greater sin.”
1 Cor. 6:18 (ESV) Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
Just as in our court of law, some offenses carry greater consequences, so it is with God’s way of doing things. The most exciting news is that God has created a way through Jesus Christ to live in freedom from the bondage and penalty of sin.
Whoever believes in him (Jesus) is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. (Jn 3:18)
Therefore, the greatest sin of all is refusing to believe in Jesus Christ and the provision of God through him. Living a life of purity comes from living by grace, not by trying to be right with God by works! Someone once said, “The me I see is that me I will be.” Most assuredly, we become what we consistently behold or think about. If I choose to set my mind on the fact that I am righteous, I will become what my mind has been focusing on. Consider these powerful thoughts given to apostle Paul by the Holy Spirit.
Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (NIV)
Those who are unwilling to accept their right standing with God will live in accordance with what their mind has received and will, therefore, experience harsher punishment because they have not received the grace of God! The grace of God gives us the full right to see ourselves as righteous. Wow!... Did you hear that? God’s undeserved favor gives us the complete right to see ourselves as perfect in his sight! Talk about amazing! The kicker is, when we see ourselves as righteous because of the blood of Jesus, our lifestyle will become righteous. Oh, this is so important! This revelation is powerful enough to revolutionize the whole world. Living inside of grace is the most wonderful and abundant life there is! I am convinced that the world is longing for the comprehension and experience of what you just read! Oh, that we as the body of Christ, would live lives that would reflect this precious grace!
You can be sure of this, living inside of grace is proof that you are not committing the…
