PRECIOUS LOVE

I love to meditate on the fact that God thought of us before he made the universe and had a plan for us to live throughout all eternity in intimacy with him.

4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. 5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. 6 So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. Ephesians 1:4-6

To grasp that God’s greatest meditation is focused on you and me and that we are his greatest pleasure is awe-inspiring! I know that we cannot fully comprehend how good God is to us, but even the little bit we know is so wonderful that it should stir us to honor and praise him! The following scriptures speak of God’s goodness to those, who, like us, don’t deserve it.

Nehemiah 9:17 They refused to listen and failed to remember the miracles you performed among them. They became stiff-necked and in their rebellion, appointed a leader in order to return to their slavery. But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. Therefore you did not desert them,

Luke 6:35-36 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

God is so in love with us that he allows us to go through whatever is necessary to draw us into the life of heaven. Sometimes the correction and instruction comes through life’s difficult trials and other times through our poor choices. Nonetheless, God is working in us to bring about his greatest pleasure – and that is intimacy with you and me.

“For it is God who works in you both to will and to act according to his good purpose.” Philippians 2:13

During challenging times, God is looking forward to the moment of our change of mind and the subsequent abundant forgiveness, grace, and compassion that he will lavish on us! God is looking with great anticipation to us stepping into the glorious freedom of his love and forgiveness! What an incredibly kind, merciful, gentle and compassionate God we serve! May we recognize how good he is and respond with absolute surrender to his most…
