WIN YOUR RACE!

Have you ever been in a car on a slippery road and did not have enough traction to get to where you needed to go? Frustrating – right?! This is what happens to many Christians when they lose sight of their real purpose and calling. They lose their traction because of dis - traction. Sprinters use blocks to give them the traction they need to win the race. Because of the many things that can cause us to lose traction and choke out our success in life, like a sprinter, we must have something set in place to ensure our unwavering focus on what truly matters! 

Mark 4:18-19  Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. 

I don’t know about you, but I have struggled with getting distracted. There are so many things that try to sneak in and take up precious time. With the internet and social media at our fingertips, distraction can be a lurking enemy. Many times, the things that are distracting us and keeping us from our God-given destinies are good. Always remember though, the greatest enemy of the best is good. The book of Colossians gives us some wisdom regarding this matter. 

Colossians 3:1-3  Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 

If you are going to win this Christian race, you need traction! Like a sprinter using blocks, you need to set your mind, heart, and affection on things above! Complete surrender to the love and free gift of righteousness will cause us to abide in that place. Meditating on and living from the viewpoint of these truths will cause us to have excellent traction to get to our final destination and see the victory! 

I don’t know about you, but I need encouragement in this area often! Be assured, it is the little things that try to keep you from greatness! It is time to be focused! It is time to fulfill your God-given purposes! It is time to lay aside the things that are slowing you down! Heb 12:2  Oh, Yes! It’s time to…
