Hey y’all, Jesus is coming, and I am so excited! I am anxiously waiting for the moment when I will look into his eyes, face to face! What an unbelievably wonderful experience that will be! If there ever were telltale signs of the imminent return of Jesus Christ, it is now. From technology to the merging of biblically identified nations to war, weather, disease, and the like. What an exciting time to be living in! You might say, ‘why does all this make you excited?’ Here the reasons: One, I can’t wait to look into the eyes of the One who gave His life for me! Two, we are getting ready to experience the glory of God as never before! Three, many people will soon experience the love of God for the first time! Oh, yes! This is our greatest hour!

So, what should your response be? In many places, Jesus told us what we should be doing. Here’s one of them:

Luke 12:35-38 Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning, as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast. Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks. The servants who are ready and waiting for his return will be rewarded. I tell you the truth, he himself will seat them, put on an apron, and serve them as they sit and eat! He may come in the middle of the night or just before dawn. But whenever he comes, he will reward the servants who are ready.

What does it mean to be dressed for service and to keep your lamps burning? Being dressed for service means that you don’t ever start your day without having donned yourself with your heavenly clothing, the righteousness of God. In other words, every day, you live as one who knows that you are perfect in God’s sight because of the blood of Jesus. What does it mean to keep your lamps burning? A burning lamp is a symbol of the light or display of Christ (fire) being released to this world by the power of the Holy Spirit (oil).

So, what do you need to be doing? 1Thessalonians 1:17 tells us to pray without ceasing. Thus, the most important thing you will do every day is to live in constant communion with God! This is breathing for your spiritual life! Just like you would not go anywhere or do anything without breathing, so don’t go anywhere or do anything without including the Holy Spirit! Next, choose to set your mind on who God declares you to be! You are safe, protected, righteous, adored, provided for, healed and deeply loved! Living with that mindset, as proclaimed in the precious love letter God has given us, the Bible, will cause you to access the life of faith and, therefore, the power and the glory of God!

My dear friends, I am so excited! We will see Jesus face to face! The one who passionately loved us and had a plan for us before the worlds began. He profoundly adores us now, we will see face to face! Oh my! Get excited!…
