JUST LET ‘EM KEEP TALKING!
What do you do when people are insulting you or falsely saying all kinds of evil against you? The temptation of our natural man and mind of the flesh is to fight back. But there is a much better way! Just smile. Let ‘em keep on talking because the blessing is piling up! :-)
Matthew 5:11-12 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for, in the same way, they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Oh, how tempted we are to fight for ourselves to make a clear-cut case for our righteousness. Not only are we tempted to fight for ourselves but to also point out key things for which our accuser is guilty. But is this the right way? Take a look at what Jesus told us to do in the circumstances.
1 Peter 2:19-24 For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. To this, you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
It is when we are unjustly persecuted and lied about that the opportunity for blessing skyrockets! I hope you’re listening carefully to these forever settled truths from the Word. God wants to bring supernatural blessing to your life! The next time an opportunity arises to fight for yourself, here’s some good advice. Smile, and…
