Why are people so afraid? Why is there so much fear? Some well-known fears are fear of failure, fear of success, fear of heights, etc. There are even some more sneaky types of fear like man-pleasing, which is fear of what others think about me. Many people live their lives based upon what they think other people think about them. Sounds crazy – but true! 

Think about it. How many disastrous things happen because people lash out in fear? How many businesses that could have been a great success were never started because of fear? How many books were never written or songs never recorded because of the fear of man or the fear of failure? 

2 Tim 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. So, if fear does not come from God, why do we fear so much? Also, if God did not give us fear, it stands to reason that he does not want us to have it. It almost seems as if the whole world is driven by the spirit of fear. 

How often do we see in the Bible the admonition of God through a leader saying do not fear or do not be afraid or terrified? Here’s one of those admonitions. 

2 Chronicles 20:15 He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the LORD says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.

You’ve probably heard of this acronym – 

F – False 

E – Evidence 

A – Appearing 

R – Real 

Most of the things that people fear never come to pass. Many things that people fear are only in their minds and not even a reality. I promise you. Fear is at the root of the problems we are facing in this world. Are you facing areas of fear in your life? God does not want fear to hinder your progress or keep you from the great things he has for you to conquer! 

I will be discussing this more in detail in the days to come, but for now, choose to believe that fear is not for you! Choose to trust that God is in love with you and will never leave you or forsake you! Now is your season to experience the life of God – the life that is…
