God does not want you and me to live in fear! As a matter of fact, all throughout the Bible, God is continually instructing those who are his children not to fear. Look carefully at these following Scriptures. 

Genesis 15:1 After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”

Genesis 26:24 That night the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am the God of your father, Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bless you and will increase the number of your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham.”

Genesis 20:1 When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you.

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

As you can see, the command of God to those who are his is not to be afraid and not live in fear. But why? What is the common denominator in the scriptures? The reason why God does not want us to fear is for one reason and one reason alone. King David understood this concept and said, “Though I walk through the Valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4 So why is it that you shouldn’t fear?... God is with you! You may ask, I know that he is with me, but isn’t he with everybody. People are still having tragic lives? Yes – God is everywhere present but that does not mean that every person will tap into the protection, power, and provision that is available to the one who believes. This is why God clearly says, “And without faith, it is impossible to please God.” Hebrews 11:6

I’m praying for you today, and I am asking God that you would both understand the importance of God’s command not to fear but also internalize the reason why you don’t have to fear. Tomorrow I’m going to discuss with you some of the reasons why God has commanded us not to fear. Until then, I pray that you will live your moments inside of the powerful truth that your loving…
