FREE FROM FEAR Part 14
So how do we access the wonderful life God has provided for us through Jesus? How can we come to God free from fear? How can we confidently approach the throne of God to find mercy, grace, and help in time of need?
Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
In Christian circles, you often hear the word justified. To make it easy to understand the meaning of that word, many have said it like this:
Justified = Just – As – I’d never sinned
For most people, the concept of coming to God and looking into his eyes with complete confidence as if they’d never sinned is hard to grasp. Most people live their life feeling like they’re always falling short and never doing it good enough to honestly consider facing God without shame, much less being intimate with him. This is why many hide from church and God. It is one thing to know about the truths presented in the word of God and another thing to live in the reality of what those truths mean. This is why God spoke to the writer of Hebrews saying, “And without faith, it is impossible to please God, for those who come to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 10:6
The greatest challenge of humanity is to be humble enough to let go of self-righteousness and personal performance to wholly embrace the truth of what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. There is something deep inside of all of us that wants to feel right about ourselves and right with God based upon our performance. This way of thinking is at the core of what the serpent seduced Adam and Eve into receiving, and this way of thinking keeps many who profess to be Christians living in fear, condemnation, and failure.
God has presented, through Jesus Christ, a way to once again live naked before God with no shame. Yes, there is a way for you and me to once again live wholly transparent and vulnerable before God without even realizing that we are living in that naked state.
Hebrews 4:14-16 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Tomorrow we will dive deeper into accessing the wonderful life God has provided for us! Until then, be assured that God is in love with you and has, through Jesus Christ, a way for you to live…
