FREE FROM FEAR Part 17

Every person who walks this earth is a person of faith. The question is not whether people have faith or not but rather upon what their faith is resting. Faith in God and fear are polar opposites. A person cannot believe God and live in fear at the same time. Fear is faith that something negative can or will happen. Henry Ford said, “If you believe you can or you can’t, you’re right.” How true! Jesus said to the man with the demon-possessed son, “To him who believes, all things are possible.” Mark 9:23 Whatever we believe has the power to bring increase or decrease, blessing, or cursing.

After all the destruction that came upon Job, he said, “What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me. Job 3:25 In other words, the faith that he had in the negative had a part to play in what happened to him. He had faith in the bad things that could happen, which was manifest by his fear. Since fear does not come from God, there is indeed a better and higher way to live. The Bible declares that this higher way of living can only be accessed by faith.

The writer of Hebrews penned these most powerful words, “And without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6 Because of the way God set up the universe, it is impossible to please Him without believing in Him. In other words, the only way to please God is to believe him. So, the question must be asked, what pleases God?

The Bible says that “God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever would believe in him would not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 This Scripture gives us a clue to what pleases God. God was so in love with the world (you and me) that he was willing to sacrifice his only son so that he could have us. How valuable are we to God? How valuable are you? When you truly love someone, is it your desire to bless them? I promise you, God’s greatest desire is that he could fill you with all that he is! God’s greatest desire is to pour into you the fullness of what his Majesty and glory can provide, and this is the declaration of what pleases him. God is longing for you to experience what heaven is like, even though you are right here on earth. Jesus told us to pray, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10 God wants you to experience heaven right here! Jesus said, “I came that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

Trusting in self is the life of fear; it is always meditating upon the thought of what if – what if something terrible happens. Trusting in God is the life of peace and joy; it is the life of knowing that God is with you at all times and in all circumstances! It is the life of knowing that you are loved, forgiven, and free!

When Adam and Eve partook of the law performance, they stepped into the world of fear and death. Adam and Eve were naked before they partook of the knowledge of good and evil, but only after the knowledge of good and evil did they realize their nakedness. Because of Jesus, you can be completely naked before God and feel completely perfect in his sight. Tomorrow we’re going to dive deeper into the life of faith because believing God is at the center of living in the amazing.
