FREE FROM FEAR Part 32

For many years, I have contended that the most important word in the Bible is the word believe. I believe the world is longing to experience the authentic Christ being displayed through genuine believers! There are many unbelieving believers; those who say they believe God but instead, live according to the law performance. Have you ever thought about what the word believe means?

The original English word for believe is a composition of two words: “be” and “lieve” or lief. The word “be” means to exist or be in a state of existence, and the word “ lieve” or “lief” means to be loved or adored. So when you put these two words together, they literally mean to exist in a state of being loved and adored. How beautifully this fits in with the picture that God has painted through his word.

Yesterday we discussed how Jesus declared that he is the Vine and we are the branches. He told us that we must remain in him and then clarified what it meant to remain in him by saying, “9“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.” John 15:9  The word of God says that one of the primary purposes of the Holy Spirit is to cause us to be filled with the love of God.

Romans 5:5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. NLT

When Jesus left this earth, he told us that he would leave us One just like himself, the Comforter.

John 16:7 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

That word, Comforter, comes from the Greek word “parakletos,” which means advocate, helper, or intercessor—all of those words declare the Spirit of love. God longs for you to be led by, dunked in, wholly controlled by his Spirit of love – the Holy Spirit. John 15 encourages us to abide or remain in the Vine, and as we have seen, this means to remain in God’s love. If the Holy Spirit was given to us so that we could be led by, dunked in, and totally controlled by the love of God, then it’s high time to walk in what God has made possible for us.

Do you find yourself trying to earn God’s love, or are you resting in his love for you as proclaimed in his word? If God truly loves you, will he not take care of you? If God is everywhere present, do you trust that he is with you right now and will never leave you or forsake you? Are you resting in him so that he can produce his fruit through you, or are you trying hard to make it happen? Remember, perfect love casts out fear. 1 John 4:18 God is longing for you to experience his life; the life of heaven! Are you resting in his love for you? Do you believe that he’s going to make a way for you? Do you live your life existing in the love of God? The word “believe” means to exist in love. Existing in the love of God is the key of all keys, unlocking the abundant life of heaven. The life that is…
