FREE FROM FEAR Part 19
In the very beginning, it was intimacy with the wrong kind of knowledge that plunged Adam and Eve and the entire human race into the bondage of fear and death. Just as the wrong kind of knowledge plunged man into fear and death, so the right kind of knowledge can now free humanity to live completely free from fear. As we quoted yesterday, “You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” John 8:32 So, what is the truth or the knowledge that can free you from fear?
Romans chapter 6 states, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23 The eternal nature of God is declared in the way that the entire universe is set up; it shows that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. In other words, there is a payment plan for everything under the sun. Some call it karma, but the Bible declares that a man reaps what he sows. Gal 6:7 Romans 6:23 says that the wages or payment plan for sin is death. This means that all sin has a payment plan, and that payment plan is death. Because the sin of man requires the death of man, the only possible payment for our sin would be the death of an innocent man. Therefore, because of God’s great love for us, he chose to send his only son to be the payment for our sin.
It is important to remember what the sin was and still is. In a nutshell, you can call it self. Adam and Eve chose a life outside of God – a life dependent upon their own righteousness, i.e., self. This reliance upon self produced every other kind of sin and left humanity bound to fear that comes from trusting in self. Remember, fear is when a person trusts in self, and peace comes when a person trusts in God.
Galatians 5:1 says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free, therefore, do not allow yourself to be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” This Scripture declares that Christ has set us free. It does not say he’s going to set us free, but he has set us free. You may be thinking, so if I am still dealing with fear and don’t feel free, how could the Bible possibly say that Christ has set us free? I’m glad you asked that question because tomorrow, we will open the treasure chest of hidden truths that have the power to step you into the life of true freedom – a life of heaven right here on earth!
