THE FOURTH CHARACTERISTIC OF A DREAMER
Determination is the fifth characteristic of a dreamer. Here are some words that describe determination: resoluteness, willpower, firmness of purpose, the strength of character, purposefulness. Maybe the best way to describe determination is perseverance. Those who accomplish great things will always be those who are willing to persevere through difficult times.
We must be determined to go to the very end and never give up! If you want something you’ve never had, you must do something you’ve never done! There is nothing worth obtaining that will be easy to achieve. The road to success will have many obstacles giving you opportunity to give up. But the characteristic of determination and perseverance will keep you going. Apostle Paul’s admonition to us in the book of Galatians clearly speaks of determination.
Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
The secret to living a life of determination is focusing daily on the vision God has for your life. Vision produces the power from God within you to fulfill the mighty purpose you were created for. Vision is the inspiration to push beyond all boundaries that keep you limited.
“fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2
It was the vision in front of Jesus that gave him the power to press on even to the point of death! Apostle Paul knew how to persevere even through difficult times. He wrote about it by saying, “To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me. Colossians 1:29 The power to persevere comes from the compelling vision of God within you.
After seven failed attempts to be a senator, Abraham Lincoln was asked if he was tired of failing. To this, he replied, “I have not failed; I just haven’t reached what I am pursuing yet.” When you are going through severe trials and facing seemingly insurmountable obstacles, your faith is being perfected, and perseverance is accomplishing its powerful work within you.
James 1:4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Every dreamer who will witness their dreams come to fruition will daily set those dreams before them. Every day you must renew your mind with the vision of God for your life. Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 12:2 that the renewing of our minds can transform us. Every day we must renew our minds with the beautiful dreams and goals that God has put in our hearts to do. A life of real success will be a life of stepping out into risky adventures. If God has told you to do something, it may seem scary, but it will be a sure victory! A word from God will always be the solid foundation that you will step out on.
