WHAT’S IN YOUR HAND?

What do you have available to you right now that you could use? It is tempting to think that if we only had more talent, more money, or more people to help us, etc., we could do something great for God. I want to assure you; what you already have is what God wants to use to do great things! Usually, when God speaks to a person about their future, he will tell them to do something that seems impossible. God is not interested in us doing something that doesn’t need his help. He wants to be our senior partner in an exhilarating, risk-taking, life adventure! To accomplish this important task, he has planned for you will not require something you do not have, but rather what you already have.

When God told Moses to single-handedly go and rescue the Israelites from the death grip of Pharaoh, Moses was afraid. He said, “What if they won’t believe me or listen to me? What if they say, ‘The Lord never appeared to you’?” Then the Lord asked him, “What is that in your hand?” “A shepherd’s staff,” Moses replied. “Throw it down on the ground,” the Lord told him. So Moses threw down the staff, and it turned into a snake! Moses jumped back. Then the Lord told him, “Reach out and grab its tail.” So Moses reached out and grabbed it, and it turned back into a shepherd’s staff in his hand. “Perform this sign,” the Lord told him. “Then they will believe that the Lord, the God of their ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—really has appeared to you.” (Exodus 4:1-5)

God will not ask you for a talent he never gave you or a position that he has not yet put you in; no, like with Moses, he will ask you, “What’s in your hand?” God does not need your ability; he needs your availability.  If you let God use what you already have in your hand, God will multiply it and turn it into something grand! Great things are ahead for you! The extraordinary life God has planned for you will begin to unfold as you use…
