Right it down! Though we have heard this many times, sometimes we don’t realize the wisdom in its exhortation. Those who study neuroscience know the psychology behind the power of writing things down. But for the average person, it is sufficient to know that writing down your goals gives a powerful message to your brain to achieve them. Those who write down their goals and dreams are far more likely to achieve them than those who don’t.

 

Habakkuk 2:2b-3 Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still, the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end – it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. ESV

 

Sometimes our circumstances, whether past or present, determine what goals we will set. It is so important not to let the economy, your current paycheck, or your current level of ability to determine the dreams you have or what you choose to accomplish. God always calls us to do greater than what seems physically possible in our current state. The admonition God gave to the children of Israel through Moses long ago is what God wants you to hear today.

 

Deuteronomy 31:6   Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (NIV)

 

Nothing grows in the place of comfort. Growth is only made possible through resistance. The dream God has for you will probably scare you a little bit or at least make you uncomfortable. Being uncomfortable is often a good thing! When it comes to your dreams, a little bit of anxiety is helpful! The men and women God used greatly were often given tasks that were impossible to accomplish in their own strength, but with God, all things are possible!
