What You Cherish the Most
Have you ever cried out to God while wondering if he is listening at all? I know I have. While the word of God lets us know that everything we say is recorded, Mat 12:36, we don’t always receive what we do ask for. Why? Many times, the answers to our prayers are directly tied to what we have cherished the most in our hearts.
Ps 66:17-20 I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!
The psalmist said, “If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.” Though God is listening to everything we say, our faith is hindered with the condemnation that comes from unconfessed sin.
1Jn 3:21-22 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.
It is not possible to believe God and feel condemned at the same time. You see, sin causes our hearts to be condemned and, therefore, cause us not to have the faith necessary to receive what we’ve asked for. That is why 1Jn 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Rejecting the mindset of sin and owning up to it in the presence of God is what clears the air for us to live by faith.
You see, your future lies within what you believe and speak. What you cherish the most is what you will meditate on the most. What you meditate on the most is what you will end up speaking, and what you speak is what you will become.
Proverbs 18:21 Life and death are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Luke 6:45 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
As you can see, what you cherish in your heart is of utmost importance! The throne of our hearts must be reserved for God and his love! We must live our lives from the viewpoint of being God’s greatest treasure – his most prized possession! We must know and live as who we really are – God’s dream come true – his ultimate passion!
The wonderful life of God is available to you! Your thought life will determine how much of that wonderful life you access. My dear friend, maybe it’s time to take inventory of what you have been cherishing in your heart. Maybe it’s time to discern what sits on the throne of your passions and desires.
Your entire existence is dependent upon your thought life. When you think the thoughts of God, the success of God begins to fill you. When you allow your mind to be filled with the world, decay and corruption begin to take over. Apostle Paul instructed the Galatian church saying, “Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Gal 6:8
If we could only realize how intensely God longs to bless us, we would fully trust what he has instructed us to do. King David knew how important this was and said to God, “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14
I want to challenge you to take an inventory of what is dominating your thought life. Are the affections and passions of your heart directed towards trusting in God’s love for you? What do you cherish the most? God is more excited about you than you could ever fathom! Today’s your day for a breakthrough in your life! You can be confident that the outcome of your life and the answers to your prayers are directly related to…
