The Way You Think

The secret to fulfilling your destiny is hidden within your thought life. Do you remember getting the assignment of a research paper or a term paper when you were young? I fully remember those assignments, and they were a disaster for me! Because those research papers usually required going to the library to source information, I felt overwhelmed and confused about knowing where to start! Needless to say, I didn’t do very well on those papers. Why? It was because of how I perceived the assignment. Though the task wasn’t that difficult, my perception saw it as super complicated and, therefore, overwhelming and beyond my reach.

Similarly, for many people, the idea of creating a plan and setting goals for their life seems stressful and overwhelming. Therefore, achieving great things in life must begin with right-thinking! To see things correctly, you must have a solid foundation for those thoughts. People often don’t see themselves as prospering because they don’t feel as if they are worthy. So you have to ask yourself this question, does God want to bless me or not? You must have a solid foundation to correctly answer that question – something more than just a good idea. What does God say?

3 John 2 I wish above all things my brothers that you would prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospers.

According to this Scripture, prosperity in your life comes from the prosperity of your soul, which is your mind, will, and emotions. As Henry Ford said, “if you think you can or you think you can’t, you are right.” Therefore, if you want to go higher this year than ever before, you will need to address your thought life! God wants to bless you more than you want to be blessed, but faith is the only thing that can tap you into that blessing. Therefore, right-thinking is the foundation for living a life of real purpose and significance! Apostle Paul understood the power of right-thinking and wrote the following to the church at Colossae.

Col 3:1-2 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Thinking upon things above means seeing yourself as God sees you. If you see yourself as God sees you, you will know that you are supposed to prosper.

2 Cor 9:8-11 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.”

Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us, your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

The purpose of prosperity in your life is to give you the ability to be generous. Fulfillment comes from living a life of giving. Remember, God so loved that he gave.

As you begin to address your dreams and goals, make sure that the first area of your achievement is in the area of your thought life! If you change the way you think, it will change the way you feel, and if you change the way you feel, it will change the way you act; and if you change the way you act, it will change your entire destiny! You can be sure of this; when your thoughts go higher, your life will go higher! Don’t wait for a perfect day to start! Begin today because the success of your future will be determined by…
