THOSE WHO KNOW THEIR GOD Part 57

“Those who know their God will be strong and do great things.” Dan 11:32

WHAT DO PEOPLE DO TO KNOW GOD?

God wants you and me to enjoy the life that he lives in. Jesus came to this earth so that we could experience the abundant life of heaven. As we discussed yesterday, the only way this can happen is through the salvation of our souls. Apostle Peter wrote that the goal of our faith is indeed the salvation of our souls. (1 Peter 1:9) Therefore, the most essential key to accomplishing the purpose of God is the transformation of our souls. Those who experience true soul transformation are excited about their Christianity and share it with others. Those who don’t experience that abundant life find it difficult to share the gospel that hasn’t yet really worked for them.

Your soul is the seat of your life. It is the part of you that animates and distinguishes you from everyone else. It is what makes you, you. When Adam and Eve partook of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they damaged their souls. Their mind, will, and emotions became bound to a mentality of shame, condemnation, and fear. Adam and Eve’s consciences were damaged, and no amount of spiritual performance could fix it. Almost 2500 years later, God gave the rules for perfect living through Moses on Mount Sinai. The problem with those laws is that they could not produce life – so prosperity.

Galatians 3:21 Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law

The law could not impart life because it did not have the power to produce righteousness. Even with all of its gifts, sacrifices, rules, and regulations, the law could not cleanse the conscience of those who worship God.

Hebrews 9:9 This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper

God knew that the blood of bulls and goats and all self-produced righteousness would never clear consciences and therefore save our souls. God made a way through Jesus Christ that we could be free from self and therefore condemnation, shame, and fear.

Hebrews 9:13-14 The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. 14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death so that we may serve the living God!

With all of its rules, regulations, and sacrifices, the law could only make one look outwardly clean. It never could cleanse a person’s conscience. But the blood of Jesus Christ has the power to cleanse our consciences from all sin thoroughly!

So the question is, how do you tap into what the blood of Jesus offers? The answer is faith! Do you really believe that the blood of Jesus makes you righteous – literally perfect – as righteous as Jesus in God’s sight? Does God love you and fully accept you as his own? Your truthful and heartfelt answer to this determines whether you can tap into the salvation of your soul or not. Do worry, fear, and anxiety rule your heart, or do you truly trust God? Is he going to work everything out for you? Is he the answer to your life? The Scripture says, “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” Romans 8:32

If God was willing to give up his only son for you, don’t you think that he is also watching you, protecting you, and will provide for you! My prayer for you today is that you would fully and totally rest in the finished work of the cross and the powerful blood of Jesus! God’s love for you is beyond your wildest imagination! Will you trust him! If you will, you will experience the goal of your faith, which is…
