We, as humans, are products of our environment. Therefore, who a person hangs out with, what they watch, read and listen to determines their future! This is a life-giving secret for those who want to make great strides towards purpose and significance! Many people do not understand the power of this statement: input determines output.

Faith is what causes a person to rise up and accomplish great things. The Bible says, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 Those who choose to meditate on what God has said are those who will tap into the reality of God himself. Only faith can accomplish your life’s purpose!

Though somewhat crass, this saying is true: “You cannot soar with the eagles as long as you’re hanging out with turkeys.”, According to Jim Rohn, You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Yes, show me your five closest friends, and I will show you your future.” If you hang out with people who have great vision, you will also become a person of great vision. The Bible says it like this:

Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.

1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

The fact that you become like those you hang out with is exciting! This means that you can associate with the right people by choice and become infected by their vision and faith!

Hebrews 13:7-8 7  Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. 8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

You see, successful people carry out daily habits and routines that unsuccessful people do occasionally. The secret to your future is hidden within your daily routine. To be successful in your life, you must first become successful in your heart and mind. Whatever is consistently on your mind becomes you. The wisest man that ever lived said, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” Prov 23:7  He also said, “Above all else, guard your heart, for it determines the course and destiny of your life.”  Proverbs 4:23

God has made you the caretaker of your future. What you will become will be determined by what you allow to dominate your mind. Allowing your mind to meditate on negativity will ensure a life of negativity, whereas choosing to set your mind on God’s truth and who he has declared you to be will ensure a life filled with faith and God’s best for you! What you think about the most will become your belief system (your worldview), and that belief will become your life reality!

What kinds of thoughts are currently dominating your mind? Do you live in fear and worry, or do you trust God so much that you rest in the fact that he’s working all things for your good? (Rom 8:28) The answer to that question will show you how far you’ve come and the direction your life is heading. Is God your source, or are you trusting in yourself? If you consider this carefully, you will be able to accurately assess your life and make the necessary changes for your future.
