Unleashing the Power of God

The Bible talks about a woman who tapped into the power of God because of her humility and great faith. This woman came to Jesus for help because her daughter suffered from demon possession. Look at what transpired.

Matthew 15:22-28 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.” 23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” 24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” 25 The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said. 26 He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” 27 “Yes, it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” 28 Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment.

Wow! Would you still operate in faith and humility if you were rejected like that? Because of her humility and faith, this woman tapped into the powers in the unseen realm and experienced an unforgettable miracle!

Scripture records quite a few circumstances where people were healed because of their faith. In Mark chapter 9, a desperate man with a demon-possessed son asked the disciples to heal his son, but they could not. The man finally brought the boy to Jesus and cried out to him, saying, “if you can do anything, please have pity on us and help us.” Mark 9: 22 What Jesus said to the man was profound. “If you can,” said Jesus, “anything is possible for him who believes.” Mark 9:23 Wow! Notice, Jesus did not say anything is possible because I have great faith – No! He said, “anything is possible for him who believes.”

The operative word here is him. Anyone who will believe God can tap into the power of God! Other than Abraham, the father of our faith, there are only two times in the Bible that someone was declared to have great faith – this woman and the Roman centurion. It is interesting to note that the people that Jesus attributed great faith to were not Jews and were not under the law, and as you know, Abraham became the father of our faith before the law. You see, the law causes people to operate in pride because it is something they can do on their own (so they think). The law is not based on faith.

Galatians 3:12 The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.” This is why the Scripture says, “Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for those who believe.” Romans 10:4

The woman with the demon-possessed son was not a Jew and did not live under the law. This woman did not trust in her own righteousness; her hope was solely based upon Jesus and the power of God. The opposite of humility is pride. Pride trusts in self and puts self before others, but Jesus said, “The greatest among you will be your servant. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” Matthew 23:11-12

A humble heart does not trust in self but trusts God, knowing he will fulfill what he has promised. Also, a humble heart puts others above itself, knowing it is better to give than to receive. I can assure you that faith and the spirit of humility gain great favor with God! What great lessons we can learn from this mighty woman of faith! There is no better day than today to let go of all that self can accomplish and place the entirety of your trust in God! Yes! May you have a humble heart today! May you have faith like this woman, and may God’s power be released in your life! Of this, you can be sure, humility and faith are key to…
