Passion of Your Heart

What or who do you think about the most? Who or what would you declare as the number one passion of your heart? Though king David was passionate about many things, he had one passion that ruled them all! Listen carefully to his description of the greatest passion of his heart. Speaking about his relationship with God, he said, “I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name, I will lift up my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips, my mouth will praise you. On my bed, I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night.” Psalm 63:2-6

Wow! King David was consumed with God and his love! To him, God’s love towards him was better than life itself! In another place, he declared, “I love you, O Lord, my strength.  The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.” Psalms 18:1-3

Why was David so passionate about God? It was because God was everything to him! Like King David, those who put the full weight of their trust in him, God becomes their protection, provider, healer, deliver, peace, comforter, counselor, joy, ministry, future, love, their King, and yes, their everything! There is no one like him, and no one can compare! He is loving beyond description and faithful beyond understanding! Unfathomably powerful yet amazingly personal! God is indescribably perfect and supremely glorious, yet simple enough to relate with you and passionately adore you!
