Choose Your Thoughts

The extraordinary grace that God has granted you and me gives us the opportunity to completely transform our lives by renewing our minds. We don’t have to stay the same! Bigger, better, and higher are available for those who will go deep into the wonder of all that God is!

Many live lives of negativity and have chosen to believe that it is just the way they are, but how far from the truth this is. God has made it clear that we can choose our thoughts and, therefore, our life and future! I’ve heard people say, “I just can’t help it, that’s just the way I am.” This kind of thinking is ignorant of the truth of the glorious grace, kindness, and mercy God has granted to us!

Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

If you have ever read the book of Romans up to this point, then you know that apostle Paul made it painstakingly clear that the wonderful life God desires for us to live in is not about our righteousness but his! – It’s not about our works or efforts but his!

So what is our job? Is there something we are supposed to be doing? The answer is yes! We are to take authority over our thought life and be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

I have often said that the only thing stronger than God is our ability to choose or reject God and his ways. We must realize that our thoughts are under our jurisdiction, and we have been given the authority and responsibility to decide what thoughts are allowed and what thoughts are not! Oh, my friend, the way you view and feel about life can completely change by getting a hold of your thought-life. Take a look at these Scriptures.

Colossians 3:1-2  Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Philippians 4:6-8 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Wow! What would it be like if you were never anxious or worried about anything? Can you imagine how wonderful your life would be if your mind always looked for the best and trusted God for the rest? What would it feel like for you to live in God’s peace that surpasses all natural understanding? What would it feel like to live with a peace that surpasses what you can physically see and hear?

Have you ever wondered how it was that David could be surrounded by evil, vicious enemies with no natural help or hope in sight yet fear no evil? The answer is that his mind was renewed to the ever-present, all-powerful God that would never leave him or forsake him!

Oh, my dear friend, God passionately longs for you to step into his world of faith! When you choose to set your mind on what God said is true, you can step into His world and live in His kingdom. Jesus told us to pray, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10. Why? Because we are indeed supposed to live in his kingdom!

Don’t ever receive the lie that would tell you that you’re stuck in life and can’t change! I can assure you that much greater things are ahead for you as you choose the life of thinking God’s thoughts and believing what he says! Today I am praying that you will step into the amazing world God lives in because you have come into a clear understanding that you can indeed…
