Do you know that you can change your entire destiny? Have you ever wondered why some people live in purpose and significance and others don’t? How is it that some people go to church every Sunday yet live unfulfilled lives? I believe the answer can be found by understanding the word input.

What is the first thing a baby does after coming out of the womb? It starts looking for its mother’s breast – right? Yes, by the design of God, a baby innately knows it needs its mother’s milk. This concept is so spiritually significant. The only way for a newborn believer (or any believer, for that matter) to grow is to have proper nutrition.

As a Christian, you can be sure of this; you are what you eat. The only way to have a significant life is to have significant input. Your input will determine your outlook (how you feel), and your outlook will determine your output (how you act), and your output will determine your future (your entire destiny). So, here is the principle: What you consume the most will consume you. This is why I always say that the price of your future is your present. Your commitment to focus on your present will determine your future.

One of the greatest influences on your future is the input of those you hang out with. Someone once said, “show me your five closest friends, and I will show you your future.” The Bible says it like this, “Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” 1 Corinthians 15:33 Another Scripture says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17 There is a universal principle in the word of God that works no matter who you are or what you believe.

Galatians 6:7 “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.

The principle of sowing and reaping is so important that Jesus told his disciples that if they didn’t understand it, they would not understand any parable.

Mark 4:13 “Then Jesus said to them, “If you can’t understand the meaning of this parable, how will you understand all the other parables?

God has set up the universe based upon the principle of seedtime and harvest. On day three of creation, he set forth how the universe would operate by implementing seeds and plants that would reproduce after their own kind. You see, what goes in you, whether by food or entertainment or knowledge, will have a profound effect on where your life is headed. Therefore, to have a life of significance, it is of utmost importance that you pay close attention to the input of your life.

I get excited when I think about the principle of sowing and reaping because I know that when you sow a seed, it produces many seeds. A single seed does not produce a single seed – it always produces many more. Therefore as you contemplate where you want your life to end up, make sure that you consider the power of sowing seed!
