Anointed with the Holy Spirit and Power

We often think that Jesus did miracles because he was God, but it is essential to note that Jesus did miracles only because God anointed him. The anointing Jesus had, came at a price and did not show up in his life until he was 30 years old. Look at what this scripture says.

Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil because God was with him.

There is no record of Jesus doing miracles until He had accomplished three things.

1.    Thirty years of being submitted to his parents

2.    Baptism by John (God’s spiritual authority of the hour)

3.    Led into the wilderness by the Spirit of God to be tested and tried

In the Bible, olive oil speaks of the Holy Spirit and his anointing. Olive oil is obtained through the crushing of the olive. This is similar to the process needed for the person God will use mightily. The anointing inside a person is for them (personally), but the anointing upon a person is for others. Think about it – if Jesus needed a process, what about you and I!? No one rightfully enters a higher level of education unless he passes the required tests. So, Jesus went through the tests required to declare him the author of salvation.

Heb 5:8-10 During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.

The anointing of God only comes through the process of crushing the self-centered, self-trusting part of man and thereby releasing the power of the Spirit. Like Jesus, those who will walk in God’s miraculous power will learn submission, be baptized, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

So, it is not just those who become Christians that God uses mightily; it is those whose faith has become great through testing and trial. God does not use those who trust in themselves; he uses those who trust in him! Faith alone moves God’s mighty hand–but faith must be grown, and that growth requires the fire of testing and trials. Peter understood this process and here are the words the Holy Spirit gave him to write down.

1Pet 1:6-9 6 In all this, you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Apostle James wrote, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4

Maybe you are going through something challenging in your life right now and have even been tempted to be angry at God. But, oh, my dear friend, don’t despise those trials you’re facing! Embrace the opportunity God has given you to grow in faith! He has promised he will never leave you and will use this moment in your life to bring about his great purposes! The trials you are facing have been allowed by God because he wants to bring you into the fullness of his purpose for your life!

As I pray for you today, I am asking God to help you understand the power of learning to live by faith! Instead of worrying and living in fear, may you embrace your trials because they are opportunities for you to grow. Oh, yes! May trusting in self be crushed, and walking by faith become your way of life!

My dearest friend, today I declare that you are headed for significant manifestations of the power of God because you, like Jesus, are…
