God’s goodness towards us, as displayed in sending Jesus Christ to grant us right standing with him, is more wonderful than words can describe! God longs for us to grow in the wonder of his love for us and receive the knowledge of his dream for our lives! His dream for our lives includes leaving the do-it-yourself life by entering his glorious life of faith! Stepping into this world is an amazing journey – a trailblazing, pioneering journey prepared for you by God!
Colossians 1:9-14 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Living a life worthy of the Lord has nothing to do with our performance. Righteousness in God’s sight is by faith alone. The life God has granted you and me to access is exceedingly, abundantly, above all we could ever ask or think, and it all comes from his Spirit that works so mightily within us! Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
Colossians 1:10 of the Mirror Bible says it like this, “Go on a walkabout tour to explore the extent of the land that is yours under his Lordship. Now you can conduct yourselves appropriately towards him, pleasing him in every harvest of good works that you bear. Meanwhile, you continue to increase in your intimate acquaintance with that which God knows to be true about you. This results in the most attractive and fulfilled life possible.”
I used to consider Christianity and the life of God as a work or a performance to strictly adhere to, but now my understanding is so much greater! A performance-based life produces a life of bondage to shame, condemnation and fear. The life of God performing through you is a life of freedom and prosperity! I am more excited than ever in all of my life to step into the beautiful life God has provided for me through Jesus Christ! How exciting! Today is my day!
