Whose Opinion Really Matters
The more I have grown in Christ, the more I have realized the dangers of accepting the praise of men. When we look for praise from people, we also make ourselves vulnerable to their criticism and judgment. We were not created to live in the opinion of people but instead the opinion of God.
It is valuable to note that what people thought about Jesus was not important to him because Jesus was only concerned about what God thought about him! When we put our trust in God, we do not need the praise of man and are likewise not concerned about the judgment of man. If you allow yourself to receive the praise of men, you bind yourself to their opinion and, therefore, their criticism. Listen to Jesus’ words…
John 5:41-44 “I do not accept praise from men, but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. How can you believe if you accept praise from one another yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God?
The more you trust in God, the easier it is not to be moved by people’s opinions. Oh, yes – putting your trust in God is the life of freedom!
Many have lived their lives trying to impress people with their possessions and achievements, only to discover that it all ends in graphic disappointment!
What God thinks about you is the only thing that matters! The most significant breakthrough of your life will be connected to believing what God believes about you!
