In Jesus Name

God told us that we can come to him in the name of Jesus. This means we are coming to him in Jesus’ stead or authority. In light of coming to God, I love the Psalms! In many of these beautiful songs and poems, David bears his tender heart to God in such an honest, passionate and raw way! Here is one of those prayers – one of my favorites.

Psalm 63:1-8 O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.  2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. 3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.  4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name, I will lift up my hands. 5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips, my mouth will praise you. 6 On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. 7 Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. 8 My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me. 

In light of David’s prayer, maybe you would like to pray this prayer with me:

Dear Lord Jesus, I surrender to your amazing love for me today! Your love is so wonderful that it causes my heart to love you more than ever! I am finding that everything I’ve ever wanted I find in you! Dear Father, as I find you to be everything I need, continue your grand purpose in me and through me! Oh, yes, the thought of you controlling every part of my being is beyond wonderful!

Precious Father, you are the love of my life; nothing compares with you! Every morning you are right there, and your love brings me tremendous joy! Nothing in all of the world is as wonderful to me as you! By your grace, may I live in you today, and may you live through me today!

Lord, you are the perfect friend and perfect God! I want to praise you as long as I live; I want to bless you with all I am! I surrender to you as my King, Lord, and God! With all of my heart, I worship and adore you today!
