THE AUTHORITY IS YOURS
Jesus came as a servant to a world of lost and hurting people. He was fully submitted to the authority of His Father and, therefore, walked in the same authority as his Father.
Mk 1:22 The people were amazed at his teaching because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.
During his time here on earth, Jesus appointed seventy-two disciples to go out and minister ahead of him in every place he was going to go. This is what they said when they came back, "The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” Luke 10:17
When you carefully consider the idea of authority, you will realize that all authority comes from being under authority. The policeman's ability to stop a semi-truck with a motion of his hand comes from the authority he is submitted to. The badge he wears on his chest declares his authority to do what he does. Likewise, all authority in heaven and earth was given to Jesus, and in His name, we are to go and demonstrate the purpose and plan of God! Jesus said it to the disciples like this, “Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
A policeman has authority because he is a part of the police department as instituted by our state and government. To have the authority Jesus spoke of in Matthew 28 you must be a part of his eternal department, his eternal family. Fully surrendering to the love of God as provided by the blood of Jesus is how you become a part of that family. There are no good deeds or righteous works that can give you this authority. This kind of authority is only accessible by believing in the provision God has given us through Jesus Christ.
Please understand, true Christianity is based upon what we believe not upon what we do, however, make no mistake. True faith will exhibit the actions of God’s eternal love. We must soak God up instead of trying to work him up! What you behold is what you will become! Will you surrender to him today? Will you trust and believe what he has said? I am praying for you today. I am believing that your child-like surrender to believing what God has said about you will cause you to live in that wonderful place where…
