NO OTHER GODS!
Do you need protection? Do you need to be rescued? Let everything in your life that you could trust in besides God, be put in its rightful place…far behind! It's an idol! Serve God only! You can be sure; when your trust is in God, he will deliver you and rescue you! Consider these wise words of Samuel to the people of Israel.
And Samuel said to the whole house of Israel, “If you are returning to the Lord with all your hearts, then rid yourselves of the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths and commit yourselves to the Lord and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.” (1 Samuel 7:3 NIV84)
Deliverance comes from God alone! When we have something in our life that we are putting our trust in, instead than God, it's an idol and prevents us from fully trusting God and receiving his power and protection! The question is never whether God wants to help us or not, but rather that without faith, tapping into God’s power, protection, deliverance and provision is simply not possible. God is not moved based upon need but rather upon faith. Faith is the only thing that taps a person into the spiritual realm where God’s power and provision exists. King David said in Psalm 23 that he would not fear because God was with him! May your heart be the same! Don't trust in your job, your spouse, your children, your parents, your pastors or anything else! Your Father in heaven is your answer! Trust him alone! No one else is God– He alone is God!
