EVERYTHING GOD HAS EVER WANTED!
Have you ever experienced an internal struggle when you hear someone say that you are God’s favorite or that you are everything God has ever wanted? Many times, our misconstrued idea of God leads us to believe that God accepts us, or not, based upon our good deeds or bad deeds. There is a phrase that I often use when it comes to understanding this most crucial concept. And it is, “do the math.” To wrap your mind around the idea of you being God’s favorite, you have to use deduction and reasoning to comprehend the truth.
So, in the simplest terms, here are the most essential parameters:
Two thousand years ago, Jesus became the Lamb of God who was sacrificed to take away the sin of the world.
Jn 1:29 The next day, John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
1 Pet 2:24 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds, you have been healed.
Because of the sacrifice of Jesus, you have become as righteous as God himself.
2Cor 5:21 God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in Him, we might become the righteousness of God.
Phil 3:9 …and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.
Only faith in God’s sacrifice of Jesus can grant you access to a perfect standing with God.
Jn 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever would believe in him would not perish have everlasting life.
Rom 5:1 Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Rom 1:17 For in the gospel, a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
Think about it. When Jesus died on the cross, he paid for the sin of the whole world. So, here’s the question: Are you in this world? Yes, you are! Hence, deductive reasoning clearly establishes that you are, therefore, included in this wonderful provision of right standing with God because of the blood of Jesus. Wow! Can you receive that? Are you humble enough to accept that God’s love towards you is so great that he would grant you a perfect standing with him that you did not earn or deserve?
Now again, you must do the math. If God was willing to sacrifice his only son so that you could have right standing with him, how valuable are you? Your worth to God must be immense! At this point, words miserably fail to describe the intensity of what you mean to God! Your extreme value to God is something so profound that it defies logical reasoning and can only be described as the love beyond measure!
