FREE FROM FEAR Part 9

So how do we know that the knowledge of good and evil that Adam and Eve partook of was something they became bound to as in the law of marriage? This Scripture explains it clearly!

Do you not know, brothers and sisters—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives? 2 For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him. 3 So then, if she has sexual relations with another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man.

4 So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. 5 For when we were in the realm of the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death. 6 But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code. Rom 7:1-6

So here, apostle Paul says the only way to be free from the law of marriage is if one of the partners dies. He goes on to say, “you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead.” Rom 7:4 The Scripture would not say, “belong to another,” unless we, in fact, belonged to the law. The word of God declares that we died to the law (knowledge of good and evil) through the body of Christ so that we could belong to Jesus.

Apostle Paul also wrote to the Galatians on the subject, saying, “Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed.” Gal 3:23 In other words, we were bound as in marriage to the law and held as prisoners until faith in Jesus Christ’s sacrifice could be made known.

So, we see that we became intimate and bound to the knowledge of good and evil (the law). So, in a sense, there was a marriage ceremony or a consummation of Adam and Eve and the law. They became bound to it and to the life of death that it gave them. So, when God said, “when you partake of it, you will certainly die,” did they die? How did they die? Tomorrow you will find out.

Remember, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2Tim 1:7 God has created you to live as one who is loved and adored – as one who is royalty and filled with power! May you be favored today! May you walk in all that God has granted you through Jesus Christ! May the glory of God be upon you! It is time to live…
